The Kurfew launch party for the acclaimed 14th Annual Gay and Lesbian Film Festival. Not even a long wait in line in the rain could "dampen" the spirits of the attendees! While Kurfew patrons mingled with New Festival and Showtime (event sponsor) executives, others met many of up-and-coming actors, directors, screenwriters, etc. behind this year's films. While the monitors gave patrons a taste of festival participant Margaret Cho's "Notorious C.H.O. film," Showtime's Queer As Duck mascot worked the dance floor and proved quite the hit among the crowd...the pictures are coming soon! The night wrapped up with a dance contest, where winners walked away with film tickets for the Festival, and various Showtime goodies. Yep...school's out and it's time to go a little crazy! Kurfew patrons take over the club till 1 AM, from running the door, to taking pictures, to choosing the music! It all wraps up in our CUTE BUNS CONTEST with a grand prize of a trip to Kurfew Philadelphia Gay Pride the very next day, with VIP Admission, complimentary beverages, and the chance to meet the one and only Ru Paul!

Kurfew @ Chrome helped kick off Gay Pride Philadelphia with an incredible performance by the one-and-only Ru Paul. As she performed some of her megahits including "Supermodel," the crowd went wild, singing along and reaching out to touch Ru. Ru helped pull some other Queens onto the stage to select the 2002 Supermodel. An array of other talented performers helped make for Lots of pictures are on the pictures page!

Kim Sozzi "wowed the crowd" at our New York event this past Friday. After singing her super-catchy "We Get Together," which will be appearing on the upcoming HQ2/Hex Hector album "Remixology," Kim invited some fans to come up on stage and dance with her...in an instant, a few dozen Kurfew boys and girls ran up onto the stage, and Kim was having her very own stage party! She also sang her previous hit song, "Feelin' Me," which made many in the crowd immediately recognized as one of last year's biggest club hits...and suddenly realized just how talented Kim Sozzi is! And gracious too...the recording artist patiently autographed dozens of pictures and vinyls for eager fans. More pictures of Kim, and of the 5/10 event, are featured in the pics section. Our Las Vegas event at Cobalt on Saturday, May 11th, was a blast. A few legal snags required that the 18+ event be held outdoors, and a large outdoor stage and dance area was constructed. The comfortable, dry, Nevada air was actually delightful! And so were the boys! XY Magazine cover models were on hand to judge the dance contest. Check out all the pictures by clicking here!

Notes: Kevin Aviance took the stage at Kurfew just as his hit "Alive" hit the top of the Billboard Dance charts. Kevin, emotional over the hit status of his newest song, recounted his struggle from the time he was a "little black girl." Seriously, he provided some words of inspiration for those of us who continually fight to be ourselves! In addition to "Alive," Kevin performed several of his other hits including "Din Da Da", "Rhythm is my Bitch," and of course, "Cunty." Elektra and Sinnamon were also back in force with performances of their own. Check out the pictures!

Ricardo! from Energy! (yes, the boy is fond of exclamation points) took the turntables for the opening set for the Ultra Records party at Kurfew on 4/12 celebrating the success of Ultra.Dance 01, mixed by Johnny Vicious. And are we the only one's who have noticed, but are the boys...and the girls...getting hotter as the weather gets hotter? Or maybe it's just the effect of all of the shirtless bodies? (To answer a common Kurfew questions, you don't HAVE to remove your shirt at Kurfew...in fact, most don't).
Saturday's "Fed Bash" at Columbia University was beyond wild, with the strangest performances (including a boy who re-wired his gameboy and played it as a musical instrument), outrageous characters, and even go-go dancers. The party really got moving when DJ Joey Tempo began spinning, as the packed dance floor would attest.

With Zach, Chad and Dan at the door, and Vicki Lake in the house (albeit in "her" new jock-guy form) we nearly felt transported back to the days of the magical Kurfew Kenny Scharf room (better known as the "Furry Room." We're noticing more and more "old school" Kurfew people venturing back to explore the new space, some of whom we havne't seen for years!!! A couple of the old-schoolers were concerned that they'd now be the "oldest people at Kurfew," until they realized that the crowd is really much more diverse, with those in their late teens mixing well with those in their late 20s...if you haven't checked out the new vibe yet...what are you waiting for!!!
